The Academy of Sustainable Finance, Accounting, Accountability & Governance (ASFAAG), in association with the FIU Institute of Environment and the College of Business (FIU Business), will host its 2026 American Chapter conference under the theme: “Sustainability by Design: Rethinking Business for a Changing World.”

This conference will serve as a platform for innovative scholarship and dialogue focused on sustainability, resilience, and responsible business practices. It aims to bring together academics, policymakers, and industry leaders to explore how organizations can proactively shape sustainable futures in a rapidly evolving global landscape.

The keynote speaker for the event will be Prof. Michael Goldstein, the Donald P. Babson Chair in Applied Investments and Professor of Finance at Babson College. Prof. Goldstein also serves as the Editor of Financial Management and the Editor-in-Chief of Weather, Climate, and Society.

The conference will feature multiple high-level panels with leading policy makers, industry experts, and corporate executives, offering a dynamic platform for dialogue on sustainability, finance, and governance.

We invite theoretical, empirical, or applied paper submissions in the areas of sustainability. Suggested topics include, but are not limited to:

The conference is designed as a workshop-style event to foster in-depth dialogue and constructive feedback. As such, a select number of papers will be invited for presentation. In addition to research presentations, the program will feature keynote addresses, expert talks, and panel discussions with distinguished scholars, senior corporate leaders, and government officials.

  • PAPER SUBMISSION PROCEDURE

Submissions should be original and complete manuscripts in English and in PDF format. They should begin with a title page that includes the names, e-mail addresses, and affiliations of all authors as well as a 200-word abstract and keywords. A blinded PDF copy of the paper should also accompany the submission. All the submitted papers will be reviewed by a panel of Conference Committee Members.

  • PROGRAM OUTLINE

The Conference will take place over three days at the Florida International University main campus in Miami, Florida. Day one of the conference will have an Inaugural session, academic keynotes, industry-academia panel and CEO Speak session. Days two and three of the conference will feature paper presentations and development workshops.

The Financial Review

In collaboration with the Financial Review (FR), the Conference offers the author(s) of accepted papers a “no-fault” submission option, which means that if the FR decides to review the paper and rejects it, the author(s) can submit the paper to the FR through the normal submission process. Papers submitted must not be under review at any journals.
